Alpha Phi Omega - Section C3
Section C3 Railroader Award
The Section 49 Railroader Award was orginally created by Section 49 Chair Jim Roach at the 2004 Section 49 Conference in Cape Girardeau, Missouri (Beta Psi).
The Section C3 Railroader Award is the only award created on the sectional level in Section C3 specifically for individual active brothers. Recipients are awarded for their unique and significant contributions to Alpha Phi Omega on the sectional level. This could include, but is not limited to, encouraging and fostering inter-chapter relations, bringing more of Section C3 to their chapter, and/or by encouraging more members of their respective chapter to attend sectional events. There existed a need to recognize brothers on the sectional level for their contributions, and also to cultivate an environment where further effort was encouraged on the part of actives to look beyond their own chapters, and see Alpha Phi Omega for what it is--a service fraternity that carries out the same principles, regardless of chapter or campus. The Railroaders are brothers that take to the roads and bridge the gap between chapters, helping bringing Alpha Phi Omega together as a national service fraternity.
Only active members of Section C3 chapters are eligible to receive this award. The active railroaders who attend the Section C3 Conference are responsible, in conjunction with the Section C3 Chair, for choosing the next class of recipients. Recipients must receive a unanimous vote of active railroaders present at the Section C3 Conference to receive the award. The Section C3 Railroader award is presented by the current Railroaders and the Section C3 Chair to the recipients at the conference banquet. The award is designated by a small railroad pin, worn close to the fraternity service pin.
